LEEK'S

Leek's are in the onion family, but have a milder taste. The tops are good diced ,added to Bake Potatoes. You can chop them up ,dehydrate them and use all winter in soup's etc. They are easy to grow.generally what your grocer sells as green onions for salad's are young leek's. you can plant these and they will grow int Beautiful Giant Leek's. I learned this by accident, but it was a Great Accident !

Grow Tomatoe's Easily

The easiest way, to grow tomato's,is trench planting.Dig a trench about 1 foot long. Before planting put 1 tablespoon of Epsom salt,in the trench cover this with soil.then lay plant in the trench cover all of the plant except about 3 or 4 inches. The tomato plant will grow root's ,along the covered stem. This also put's the plant in warmer soil.Tear a piece of news paper about 6 inches, roll this into a 4 inch diameter tube shape.place this around the plant cover about 1 inch or so, with soil. This will be a 'cut worm collar" insect deterrent. use a stake or comerical tomato cage to support the plant,if you stake the plant remember to tie it loosely, for growing room.use about a small handful of 10-10-10 fertilizer. in dry weather, you will need to water your plant's 3 or 4 times a week. The purpose of the Epsom salt is to give the plant magnesium, this will help keep it from blighting. another trick for sweeter tomatoes is after the the plant is established and starting to grow is to sprinkle a tablespoon of sugar, around the plant. this will make the tomatoes sweeter.{this does work} .keep the weed's pulled or cut with a garden hoe, keeping the soil loose puts air in the soil and let's the water in easier. watter in the early morning or late afternoon.spread a handful of a good 10-10-10 fertilizer around the plant .then just have patients and you will grow great tomato's. with a taste you just cannot get at the grocer's. My preference in tomato variates is the German Tomato's
